GERSHWIN THEATER GUIDE
There used to be many Gershwin Theaters across the United States, Canada and elsewhere, some with Broadway tours like Wicked and Motown, and others hosting top concerts and comedy each week. New York currently has the only open Gerswhin Theater - the largest of all the Broadway theatres, the Gershwin is located next door to its sister theater Circle in the Square at the Paramount Plaza building in mid-Manhattan. Named for the legendary Gershwin brothers, George and Ira, is also home of the American Theatre Hall of Fame, where inductees are given their own plaque during an official ceremony. Despite a disastrous start with Via Galactica in 1972 starring Raul Julia (it lost a million dollars and closed after only seven performances!), it has since gone on to host some of the most successful musicals, and has hosted Broadway smash hit Wicked since 2003. Our independent guide gives you a quick view of what's happening at a selection of these Gershwin Theaters.
